Founded in 2014 by a handful of individuals seeking to create a social movement to address global peace challenges. The same passion and goals that drove them to launch PeaceStartup still remain fundamental to the foundation to date.
The primary objective of PeaceStartup has been, and will always be to promote and empower technologically based peacebuilding entrepreneurship and businesses through co-innovation. Since its inception, PeaceStartup has collaborated with the private sector, NGOs, government and civil society to bring this unique approach for creating practical and sustainable solutions to regions across the globe that are experiencing challenges to peace related to conflict and post-conflict conditions.
The founding members of PeaceStartup were a combination of the partners of Value4Chain, and Business & Human Rights (María Prandi, Julián Ballesteros, Claudia Patiño, Juan Andrés Cano and Elkin Garavito). They decided to work together with the same desire of building peace by starting in Colombia, with the ambition of eventually growing PeaceStartup into a global network of peace-entrepreneurs and peacebuilders. PeaceStartup has achieved much in the few years it has been active, and 2017 is shaping up to be our most successful period of growth yet. This international network now consists of entrepreneurs dedicated and passionate individuals who are innovating technological solutions related to peacebuilding in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
